We took the kids on a historic train ride from Flemmington, NJ today. The train cars are old, and there was even an appearance by Maggie Moo -- the cow mascot of a local ice cream shop. Noah and Eva had a lot of fun riding the train, even though the temperatures were pushing triple digits.

The scenery was quite picturesque, almost like riding on a model train set. The New Jersey countryside was lush, and there were several homes and farms along the way.

We stopped at a small station where we all disembarked while they turned the engine around for the return. They accomplish this by unhitching the cars on a side track, passing them with the engine, and then hitching the cars to the opposite end of the engine. This put us in the first car for the return, which made the bells and train whistle very loud. The novelty of that wore off very quickly.

After the ride, we spent some time in the outlet shops, where we were mostly wallowing in the air conditioning. Noah and Eva passed some time on a toy truck ride outside one of the stores where Tanya was shopping.
